Ojistoh Publishing owner and operator, Haudenosaunee writer, media producer and Indigenous music advocate January Rogers, started the publishing label in 2019 the same year she returned to Ontario after living as a guest on Coast Salish territory for 25 years. During her time away, January developed her skills as a writer and spoken word performance poet and published 6 titles with various publishing houses while being appointed Victoria's 2nd Poet Laureate 2012-2015. Upon returning home she wanted to bring her skills as a writer and knowledge of the publishing processes to new writers within Six Nations and thus was born Ojistoh Publishing. January is still writing poetry which finds its way into her media work as video poetry with some award winning titles such as Ego of a Nation (Best Music Video, Native American Film Festival 2021) and Wind Rabbit (winner of the Aotearora Poetry Film Festival, Toronto Women's International Film Festival and Brampton International Film Festival 2025).
